This is a four part lecture series in which four separate scholars will discuss humanities topics in their fields of expertise for 40 minutes and respond to questions for 20 minutes.
Saturday, May 17, 2008- Dr. Edmund Miller, Humanities Scholar, will present "Sexual Subtext in The Tempest: How Shakespeare's Stage Directions tell a Different Story".
Saturday, June 7, 2008 - Suffolk County Poet Laureate, Dr. David B. Axel Rod, will discuss "The Healing Power of Poetry." He will blend both the western tradition of viewing the creative process as "inspired" with eastern philosophy.
Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 - Dante Scholar, Clifford Bleidner, will discuss Dante's development as a poet, his life, times and effect on other writers.
Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 - Dr. John Haegert, Humanities Scholar, will discuss "Narrative Restlessness D.H. Lawrence and the Art of Fiction."
