The Garvies Point Museum and Preseve, located in beautiful setting by Hempstead Harbor in Glen Cove, has opened registration for its popular jewelry-making classes.
Two 12-session Jewelry-Lapidary Workshops will be offered, featuring small class size and individual attention within a fully equipped professional jewelry studio. The classes are designed for beginners as well as experienced jewelry makers and crafters. The classes will focus on contemporary and traditional jewelry-making basics, including lapidary, drilling, sawing, filing, soldering and the polishing of metals for jewelry and small sculptures. In addition the classes will include instruction in a range of techniques such as acid-etching, anodizing, chain making, cold connections, forging and granulation, among others.
