Focus on the mechanics of pastel painting. Working on Canson Mi-teintes pastel paper, students learn the layering technique used by most master pastellists. Both hard and soft pastels are used, and methods of drawing and applying are discussed. A fundamental understanding of drawing is required for this class as the focus is on the art of the medium. Instructor Julia Reynolds first trained at the Art Students League and was recently invited to join LIAFA's faculty as a painting and drawing instructor.
