LICVB & SC Overview

The Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission (LICVB&SC) was formed in 1978 as a non-profit membership corporation under the laws of the State of New York. Its purpose includes the promotion of the Nassau-Suffolk region as a destination for visitors, meetings, conventions, trade expositions and sporting events.

The LICVB&SC is designated as the official Tourism Promotion Agency by both Nassau and Suffolk Counties and is responsible for tourism-related economic development and travel and tourism services for the Nassau and Suffolk county region.

The LICVB&SC also serves as the Long Island agency for the “I Love NY” program and works closely with the State of New York and its tourism promotion department to offer many marketing opportunities to its members.

The Long Island Sports Commission, a division of the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, represents Long Island in the national and international sports marketplace. The Commission serves as an essential resource for the procurement and planning of sporting events on Long Island.

The LICVB&SC Board of Directors is elected by the Members and represents all sections of the region and all facets of the visitor/hospitality industry. The Board meets regularly to guide the professional staff in fulfilling the purposes of the Bureau.
