Come visit Long Island and pick your own pumpkins; or get lost in a corn field maze; take a hayride; taste Long Island’s many fine wines at over two dozen vineyards; or sample Long Island’s famous roasted corn-  a buttery, mouth-watering treat at many of its east end farm stands.

Rural Fun On The East End
U-Pick fruits and vegetables are a major attraction on Long Island’s North and South Fork, and fall is pumpkin-picking season. All along Rte. 25A and Rte. 25 on the North Fork, the opportunity is ripe to pick your own.
Come visit Harbes Farm on Rte. 25 in Jamesport and its second location in Mattituck for pumpkin-picking off the vine, as well as other fun activities such as corn mazes, sing-alongs, hayrides, pony rides, live music on Sundays and roasted corn.

Also enjoy a hay maze, mini hay bale maze, tyke's tricycle maze and straw mountain, at Harbes Family Farm, Route 25, Jamesport.
At Wickham’s Fruit Farm on Rte. 25 in Cutchogue, October and November are apple, grape, pear and greens time. Come sample the many cheeses in Wickham’s cheese cellar and try some wonderful apple cider. On Saturdays through October, take a hay ride tour of the farm. Groups can schedule a hayride and tour Monday through Friday in October.

Oct. 1, 2 is Pumpkin Fest 2005 at the Suffolk County Farm & Educational Center in Yaphank. The Wildwood Fall Festival takes place Oct. 1 at Wildwood State Park in Wading River. Montauk Point at the end of Long Island celebrates its annual Montauk Fall Festival Oct. 8 and 9.

Riverhead celebrates fall at its annual Country Fair Oct. 9 along the riverfront, where you’ll find carnival rides, folk music, pony rides and hundreds of vendors, offering a variety of foods and crafts. Admission is free.

Also on the East End of Long Island, find dozens of vineyards offering the fruits of the season. Come sample Long Island’s best wines and find your favorite at many of the area’s wine tasting rooms.

Fun For The Entire Family
The Annual Long Island Fall festival takes place at Heckscher Park in Huntington Oct. 7-10, featuring a carnival, pony rides, petting zoo, crafts vendors, food courts, Long Island wine tasting and a farmer’s market. This year the festival also includes a Revolutionary War encampment and historic exhibitions.

Step back in time for the Annual Long Island Fair at Old Bethpage Village Restoration Oct. 7-11 in Old Bethpage where you’ll see traditional music demonstrations, volunteers in 1800 period dress, contests and games.
Humble creature that it is, the oyster attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to one of Long Island’s most scenic waterfront villages for a spectacular street fair and festival -the annual Oyster Bay Oyster Festival on Long Island.
Held Oct. 15 and 16 the festival runs throughout the village and waterfront area, in addition to the Theodore Roosevelt Park. Events include a juried arts and crafts show, an historical boat exhibit, oyster eating and shucking contest, petting zoo, 5K Run, harbor tours and vendors.

On Oct. 15, the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery in Cold Spring Harbor on Rte. 25A hosts its annual fall fair Oct. 15, featuring environmental exhibits, games, face painting, music and food.

The Deepwells Farm Fall Festival is held this year at the historic Deepwells Mansion on Rte. 25 in St. James, celebrating the season and Long Island’s heritage.
The Town of Islip’s Apple Festival at Islip Grange in Islip celebrates Long Island’s apple harvest with apples prepared in numerous ways Oct. 15.
