LONG ISLAND FARMS, VINEYARDS AND FESTIVALS CELEBRATE FALL
HAUPPAUGE, NY –(August 28, 2006)- Long Island’s fall season is filled to the brim with festivals, fairs and fun.
From a Pickle Fair to a Medieval Festival near the beach, Long Island offers diverse amusement. Delight your senses as you savor Long Island’s ocean fare at a Seafood Festival. Or step back in time at a Heritage Fair; put your foot to the floor at a Bluegrass Celebration or sample the latest vintage at a Wine Fest.
Long Island’s farms will also soon be filled to the brim with fresh produce, pumpkins, and gourds. Pick your own… take a hayride… or get lost in a cornfield maze. Sample a Long Island specialty: Fresh Roasted Corn. Many farms offer petting zoos, pony rides, entertainment and games.
And while you’re on Long Island, sample the latest vintages at our wineries. Fall is the ideal time to visit Long Island’s Wine Country on the North Fork. The harvest comes in mid-September and the vintners are busy creating this year’s future award-winners. Come taste the latest selection or take a cellar tour. Visit over two dozen scenic wineries offering wine tasting, tours, cultural events and other special events. Located on Long Island’s scenic North Fork and South Fork.
Enjoy a quiet stroll on the beach or on the boardwalks, and enjoy lunch at a seaside restaurant. Plan on staying overnight: Hotel rates typically drop significantly in the fall.
Following is a sampling of some of Long Island’s unique festivals. For a complete listing of festivals, fairs, farms and Halloween fun on Long Island visit www.discoverlongisland.com
