HAUPPAUGE, NY -(October 30, 2007)- Long Island’s largest waterway passage, the Long Island Sound, will be the subject of a puzzle that will be aired on Nov. 21st  on America’s most popular game show: “Wheel of Fortune.”

With over 47 million viewers a week, “Wheel of Fortune” is syndication’s longest-running, most successful series and continues to attract a larger audience than most primetime television shows, according to the show’s producers. “Wheel of Fortune” airs in over 200 markets, representing more than 99% of the United States.

With that type of viewership, the Long Island Sound will be propelled into the spotlight, bringing added renown to Long Island and its attributes.

Other “Wheel of Fortune” facts:

  •  Wheel of Fortune marked its 25th season in September 2007
  •  The Wheel Watchers Club, the “Wheel of Fortune” online viewer loyalty program has gained nearly four million members since its inception in 2003
  • In 1992, the “Guinness Book of World Records” listed Vanna White as the world’s most frequent clapper.  Vanna puts her hands together for contestants some 28,080 times a season - an average of 720 times per show.
  • The first letter Vanna ever turned on the “Wheel of Fortune” puzzle board was a “T.
  • The Wheel weighs 4,000 pounds.
